Team Description This position is a Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer role on the Compute & Cloud Services Engineering organization (CCSE). CCSE is responsible for building and operating software that supports HPE server hardware. We maintain a collection of system management products that we either operate as a SaaS or license to our customers. We're part of the Compute business unit which is responsible for selling and supporting server hardware. CCSE is made of many smaller teams. This position is for the Platform & Infrastructure Engineering (PIE) team. The PIE team has three main responsibilities: Manage our AWS infrastructure Build and support our HPE COM Secure Gateway product Build and support automations for deploying infrastructure and software Job Description The Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer is a role for an experienced engineer that can work independently across multiple technologies. They need to be able to develop production-quality software, deploy and manage cloud infrastructure, and understand how a deployment pipeline works from beginning to end. Responsibilities specific to this role include: Working with a global team to develop and support our COM Secure Gateway product, which is a virtual appliance we provide to our customers Managing AWS infrastructure in multiple accounts using infrastructure-as-code automation Modernizing mature build and deployment systems to make them fast and reliable About Our Products HPE sells a lot of server hardware. We build software to help our customers manage that hardware. Our Compute Ops Management (COM) SaaS product helps admins get their hardware up-and-running quickly while keeping them patched and uniformly configured. Our COM Secure Gateway product compliments COM and gives customers a more secure way to connect their servers to COM. Finally, OneView is our mature system management application that is licensed to customers for use in their datacenters. It provides a self-hosted solution to system management and can be used in combination with COM. Required Skills Critical thinking and problem solving Python, Go, AWS (specifically EKS, EC2, Networking, IAM, S3, RDS, MSK, OpenSearch, and Cloudfront) Proficient in creating and managing virtual machines. Skilled in building, deploying, and maintaining containerized applications. Experienced in designing, developing, and consuming HTTP-based APIs. Experience deploying, monitoring, and automating AWS infrastructure Hands-on experience operating, administering, and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters. Git Nice-to-Have Skills Terraform, Github Actions. Packer. Istio ArgoCD Experience operating and using Kubernetes on bare metal (not EKS) Experience with bare-metal hardware Understanding of basic networking concepts Hands-on experience administering, optimizing, and troubleshooting PostgreSQL databases An understanding of how Java development works Experience with health and performance monitoring with tools like Prometheus and Grafana Proven ability to navigate the organizational dynamics and complexities of large enterprises.
