Due to MSG's continued growth, a new opening is available for a Civil Design Engineer to assist with our projects in Detroit and the surrounding area!
Key Responsibilities Work in conjunction with other licensed engineers assisting with the design and preparation of a variety of commercial, industrial, energy, water/wastewater, private and community projects throughout the Midwest.
Coordinate with fellow MSG staff across a variety of services sectors, including: Surveying, Geotechnical, Structural, Traffic, Transportation, Site Construction, municipal, etc…
Perform and check various design calculations and perform various tasks as they relate to preparing a design package.
Developing construction documents including plans sets, specifications, and bid sets
In charge of municipal water main design and wastewater transmission design
Utilities design for private development in Detroit
Prepare front end feasibility documents, due diligence reports and zoning studies, project development, storm water modeling and design, cost estimates and detailed design plans.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Knowledge of Ten States Standards and/or Detroit Water and Sewage (DWSD) specifications and standards preferred
Practical experience in design and plan preparation for site development projects.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
2-8 years of experience working for a civil engineering firm preferred
EI certification in the state of Michigan, with the ability to obtain PE certification within 1 - 2 years.
Understanding of guidelines and specifications
Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D is required.
Proficiency in independent preparation of stormwater management reports and design is preferred.
Roadway design and survey experience are a plus
The ability to engage reviewing agencies while preparing technical designs and addressing comments is a critical part of our process.
