Job Summary
: In this role, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. #LI-BH1
Major Responsibilities:
Establish insulation, paint, and fireproofing application philosophy.
Track and report installed quantities.
Ensure Coatings, Insulation and Fireproofing construction installation program is compliant with project specifications and applicable codes.
Review and approve permanent plant materials bought for painting, fireproofing, and insulation.
Coordinate paint, insulation, and fireproofing releases.
Review and approve Inspection and Test Plans and verify the completeness of quality documentation on daily basis.
Maintain all the calibration records for the instruments used for painting and coating.
Create and issue work packages.
Provide technical assistance to superintendents, field engineers, subcontractors, foremen, and craft workers.
Perform inspections and documentation of all insulation, painting, coating, and fireproofing work in progress on a continuing basis, and ensures documentation is complete prior to turnover.
Assist supervision and project controls in preparation of 3-week lookahead schedules.
Review quantity estimates from design drawings, and provide input to the quantity tracking applications and reports weekly verified installed quantities to Project Controls.
Issue material withdrawal requests for permanent materials.
Assist field procurement in inspection and receipt of received materials.
Resolve design clashes and any other constructability or technical issues.
Verify accuracy of data from subcontractors and suppliers.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5+ years of relevant experience or 7-10 years of relevant work experience.
3+ years of experience in LNG cryogenic insulation is preferred.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Must demonstrate expert understanding of applicable industry codes and standards.
Direct Hire Experience, preferably in a lump-sum environment.
Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes, including Standard Work Process Procedures.
Experience in the design and/or construction of LNG facilities is preferred
Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs), including TEAMWorks, Infoworks or Aconex, BPS or DSCS, PTR or Unifier, Agile, Navisworks, and other automation tools used on Bechtel projects, is an asset.
Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.
Additional Information:
Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
