Electric Power Systems, Inc. (EPS) is leading the way in powering the next generation of mobility. As a pioneer in advanced Energy Storage Systems for Aerospace, Defense, and Transportation applications, our mission is to enable transportation's electric renaissance by delivering batteries that are smarter, safer, more reliable, lighter, and fully certifiable. Headquartered in North Logan, Utah, EPS provides a dynamic environment where innovation thrives and engineering talent is empowered to shape the future of aviation and defense electrification. We are seeking an accomplished Chief Engineer to provide technical leadership for the design, integration, and certification of EPS's battery management systems and energy storage products for aerospace and defense applications. In this high-impact role, you will serve as the technical authority, guiding multidisciplinary engineering teams, collaborating with customers, and ensuring our systems meet rigorous industry standards and mission requirements. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record in leading complex aircraft integration programs, an entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. As Chief Engineer, you will oversee all aspects of engineering activities related to structural battery design and vehicle integration. You will define preliminary installation concepts, balancing performance, safety, and certification considerations, while working closely with both internal engineering teams and external customers. This role includes planning and guiding high-level mechanical and electrical engineering initiatives, ensuring that projects align with company objectives, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements. You will be a key driver in developing technical roadmaps, translating customer needs into system requirements, and leading the execution of vehicle installation programs from early concept development through final certification and field support. Collaboration will be at the core of your responsibilities. You will partner with certification and systems engineering teams to define hardware certification requirements, support the planning and validation of high-voltage battery propulsion systems, and coordinate with verification and testing teams to ensure system readiness. Your leadership will extend beyond the technical realm, as you mentor engineering staff, foster cross-functional collaboration, and maintain strong customer relationships that support EPS's strategic goals in the defense and aerospace sectors. To succeed in this role, you will bring extensive experience in aerospace engineering and leadership. A bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or aerospace engineering (or a related field) is required, along with at least 15 years of engineering experience and 10 years in aerospace or aviation leadership. You will have successfully led the development and certification of complex aircraft systems, managed integration requirements, and directed programs involving technical, business, and supply chain considerations. Strong communication skills, the ability to work under pressure, and proficiency with standard engineering and office software are essential. Candidates with a master's degree, experience in high-voltage electric propulsion systems, and prior leadership of STC certification programs will be highly competitive. This position offers the opportunity to influence cutting-edge technologies that are redefining aviation and defense capabilities. It requires a self-starter who thrives in a start-up environment, embraces complex problem-solving, and can drive programs to successful completion under demanding schedules. EPS values ingenuity, collaboration, and a commitment to engineering excellence, making this role ideal for an individual ready to lead innovation in electrified aerospace systems. Due to the nature of our programs and customers, candidates must be U.S. Persons as defined by U.S. export control regulations. The position requires approximately 25% travel and the ability to lift up to 15 pounds, with prolonged periods of computer-based work.
