Amazon Air operates an air transportation network comprised of 80+ aircraft serving 40+ airports in the United States, enabling us to deliver fast shipments over long distances to Amazon customers, no matter where they live. We also serve an increasing number of external airfreight and express cargo shippers via domestic and international routes.
The Amazon Air Speed and Yield Management (SPYM) team is looking for an experienced, creative and strategically-minded Business Intelligence Engineer who can help us understand how we can improve our network capacity and design to deliver the greatest value to all of our customers. The person in this role will drive innovation within and beyond Amazon Air through actionable insights, advanced analytics, and measured experimentation. Key partners include product management, supply chain, research science, operations, and other teams.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, highly analytical, and intensely detailed with a strong customer focus and perspective to drive strategy in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment.
Key job responsibilities Data Analysis: - Conduct exploratory data analysis to uncover insights - Develop and implement statistical models and algorithms - Perform ad-hoc analysis to answer business questions Collaboration and Communication: - Work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements - Translate business needs into technical specifications - Present findings and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences Data Collection and Integration: - Gather data from various sources (databases, APIs, files, etc.) - Design and implement data integration processes - Ensure data quality and consistency across systems Data Modeling and Optimization: - Write complex SQLs to convert raw data to meaningful metrics - Optimize SQLs for improved performance Report and Dashboard Development: - Develop interactive visualizations to present data effectively Data Governance and Security: - Ensure data security and compliance with regulations Continuous Improvement: - Stay updated with the latest BI tools and technologies - Automate processes where possible to increase efficiency Documentation and Training: - Create and maintain documentation for data models, processes, and reports - Provide training and support to end-users on BI tools and dashboards Problem-solving: - Troubleshoot data discrepancies and technical issues - Develop solutions to complex data-related problems Data Strategy: - Contribute to the organization's overall data strategy - Identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business value

- 5+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience - Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools - Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines - Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab - Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift - Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
