Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
- Conduct field investigations and perform failure/accident analysis on incidents involving all types of vehicles and mechanical equipment and their impact on the human body
- Conduct research and forensic investigations in the areas of impact biomechanics, occupant protection, ergonomics, workplace safety, and/or medical devices
- Conduct vehicular accident reconstruction analyses
- Evaluate bodily injuries inflicted by machinery, automobiles, mechanical equipment or slip/trip and falls
- Apply engineering principles in accordance with industry standards to investigation analysis
- Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients
- Prepare and submit written reports, documenting findings and results when requested
- Explain to clients, in layman's terms, your investigation, analysis and findings
- Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups
- Provide expert testimony in legal proceedings
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending company-paid educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies
- Develop and maintain client relations
Position Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABET accredited school
- Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Biomechanics or similar
- Education or training in Impact Biomechanics
- Minimum of three years, 5+ years preferred, of post-academic engineering work experience
- P. E. registration through testing or ability to obtain
- Public speaking experience a plus
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel 25% of the time, with potential to increase post-training
- Ability to maneuver in and around job/incident sites
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to carry/transport equipment to and from job/incident sites
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to drive in all
- Ability to fly on airplanes
- Ability to visually inspect job sites and relevant artifacts
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the job/incident site
- Ability to learn a new industry and obtain required certifications
- Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback into job performance
- Regular and predictable presence at work
