Position Summary:
The Audiovisual (AV) Field Engineer - III is responsible for providing advanced technical commissioning support for audiovisual (AV) and information technology (IT) systems in the field. This role requires in-depth knowledge of audiovisual systems, including networking, audio and video equipment, and related software. The position also involves intermediate-level control system program editing with remote support. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, punctuality, effective communication, and the technical skills necessary to ensure high-quality AV system commissioning and installation.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or equivalent experience preferred
AVIXA CTS certification required
6+ years of experience in technical AV/IT or field engineering support
Proficiency in configuring and commissioning AV systems, including video displays, audio/video conferencing systems, and digital signal processors (e.g., Biamp, BSS, Crestron, QSC)
Experience loading, testing, and editing control code and user interface files (e.g., Crestron, Extron, AMX)
Working knowledge of AV programming languages and communication protocols (e.g., IP, RS232, USB)
Strong computer skills across Windows and Apple operating systems
Ability to configure wired and wireless TCP/IP networks
Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills
Willingness to travel and stay overnight as needed based on project requirements
Comfortable working on varied job sites, including construction environments, and using standard hand tools and test equipment
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in diverse conditions (e.g., tight spaces, varied temperatures)
Responsibilities:
Provide on-site engineering support, including system configuration, programming, troubleshooting, and documentation
Collaborate with project teams to prepare and review control system submittals
Load, test, and adjust control code and user interface files, with remote support as needed
Conduct system testing, commissioning, and punch list creation to ensure successful project completion
Ensure systems meet quality standards and contract specifications for client acceptance
Identify and communicate change order opportunities to project leads
Maintain accurate field documentation and archive system configurations, code, and interface layouts
Deliver system training to clients when required
Mentor and support other AV Field Engineers as assigned, including new hire training
Participate in safety meetings and adhere to OSHA and company safety protocols
Attend required training and maintain relevant industry certifications
Maintain a high level of billable project engagement by delivering engineering and technical services
Perform additional related duties as needed
