Associate Engineer (Hybrid)

We are seeking Associate Engineers for our client, a major utility company, to support their Distributed Energy Resource (DER) Interconnection team. Ideal candidates will have a background in either electrical or mechanical engineering and be passionate about working in the power/energy sector. Process residential and commercial Distribution Interconnection applications (0 to 10 MW, primarily solar) Conduct technical screenings in accordance with Small Generator Interconnection Procedure (SGIP) Respond to a high volume of daily inquiries related to status updates, portal issues, and application deficiencies Participate in witness testing and site meetings as per SGIP tariff requirements Coordinate between internal and external stakeholders, including developers and contractors Generate and manage monthly reports (e.g., NYS DPS reporting) Support Net Meter violation tracking and contractor scheduling Oversee day-to-day operational interface and financial administration of interconnection projects Maintain accounting records in SAP and assist with cost analysis and forecasting Collaborate with cost analysts to validate invoices and project budget impacts Participate in monthly technical and policy forums regarding interconnection Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering 1–3 years of engineering experience (Electrical Engineering highly preferred) Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills Comfortable managing 15–20 concurrent projects Proficient with Excel and capable of handling numerical data and reports Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in electric utility transmission or distribution Familiarity with SGIP Tariff and DER interconnections Experience handling distributed renewable and non-renewable energy resources Additional Notes: Candidates must be located in the tristate area and have the ability to attend periodic on-site meetings (approx. 10%) on Long Island or in the Rockaways. Initial training may require on-site presence 1–2 days per week.
