Known for its contemporary design, exceptional service, and commitment to excellence, the hotel offers a vibrant and creative work environment. We are currently seeking a dedicated, experienced, and hands-on Assistant Chief Engineer to support the smooth operation and maintenance of our beautifully curated property. Position Overview The Assistant Chief Engineer will support the Chief Engineer in overseeing all engineering and maintenance operations throughout the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, restaurant, event spaces, and back-of-house facilities. This role is responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance, ensuring safety standards, and maintaining the aesthetic and operational excellence expected of a five-star luxury hotel. Key Responsibilities Assist the Chief Engineer with the overall management of engineering operations for the hotel property, restaurant, and exterior grounds. Ensure efficient execution of daily maintenance routines and manage preventive maintenance schedules in accordance with brand standards and regulatory compliance. Conduct property walkthroughs to monitor conditions, record operational logs, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions swiftly. Perform maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems (boilers, chillers, air handlers, exhaust fans, etc.), electrical panels, plumbing systems, and refrigeration equipment. Maintain and troubleshoot guest room systems including lighting, locks, phones, televisions, and in-room climate control. Respond promptly to guest and staff service requests, providing professional and courteous service at all times. Support sustainability efforts and energy-saving initiatives across the property. Ensure all maintenance and repair activities are conducted in accordance with safety protocols and local codes. Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors as needed for specialized services or inspections. Support the upkeep of maintenance logs, daily checklists, and reporting systems such as HOTSOS or other maintenance platforms. Qualifications & Requirements Minimum of 5 years of hands-on engineering experience in a luxury hotel or high-end residential property. Strong understanding of HVAC/R systems, plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance. Proficient in using Building Management Systems (BMS) and preventive maintenance software (HOTSOS knowledge preferred). Proven leadership ability with a proactive, solution-focused approach. Certification or licenses in one or more trades preferred (e.g. HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing). Familiarity and/or possession of NYC FDNY Certificates of Fitness highly preferred: F-58 (Fire Safety Director) S-13 (Citywide Standpipe) S-12 (Citywide Sprinkler) P-98 (Fuel Piping) P-99 (Low Pressure Boiler)

Strong communication skills and fluency in spoken and written English. Comfortable with manual handling, physically able to climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in varying conditions. Flexible schedule including availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
