About the Role:
You'll lead environmental durability testing programs, benchmark competitor vehicles, and ensure delivery of water-tight vehicle bodies through cross-functional collaboration. This role combines hands-on testing expertise with analytical problem-solving in cutting-edge electric vehicle development.
Key Responsibilities:
Requirements Translation : Convert customer and regulatory requirements into comprehensive system and component level test specifications
Competitive Benchmarking : Lead competitor vehicle analysis for environmental durability performance standards
Test Program Leadership : Develop, own, and execute test plans for stone impact and chipping resistance at test labs and proving grounds
Cross-Functional Collaboration : Ensure water-tight vehicle delivery through partnership with water management, launch quality, and design teams
Design Optimization : Coordinate with design, quality, and materials teams to optimize coatings, shields, and sealing strategies
Data Analysis & Reporting : Analyze test results, write technical reports, and lead root cause investigations of failures
Launch Support : Validate vehicle launch readiness and address field-related durability issues
Requirements :
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
2-3 years experience in automotive durability, chassis design, body sealing, or vehicle testing
Hands-on testing expertise with stone impact, durability, water testing, or fluid dynamics simulations
Vehicle systems knowledge of underbody and exterior systems, sealing architectures, and structural design
Test standards familiarity (SAE J400, ISO 20653, ASTM D3170, OEM-specific plans)
Analytical skills for interpreting test results, identifying failure modes, and recommending design changes
Excellent communication abilities for cross-functional engineering collaboration
Preferred Qualifications :
Electric Vehicle or Automotive industry experience
Proving grounds testing experience and lab management
Advanced materials knowledge for coatings and sealing applications
Regulatory compliance expertise in automotive testing standards
Project management skills for multi-phase testing programs
