ActioNet has an immediate opportunity for a Telecommunications Engineer (Part Time) located in Honolulu, Hawaii. ActioNet is an IT service provider and solutions integrator headquartered in Vienna, VA that works with the Federal Government and Department of Defense. The Telecommunications Engineerwill be responsible for ensuring reliable and secure communications systems by providing support for OSI model Layers 1 through 4. This position requires both a strong technical foundation in telecommunications and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to maintain and enhance network performance and resilience. Experience in help desk support, direct client support, field service, field installations and deployments. Hourly Rate: $45.00 Duties and responsibilities Assist in the installation of voice and data cabling including: copper & fiber optic terminations and installations, CAT.5, CAT5e & CAT.6, and EIA/TIA standards and BICSI installation guidelines Assist in documenting the network by labeling and routing equipment and cables. Assist in troubleshooting and repair equipment and ISP/OSP cabling issues. Configure and support switches, VLANs, and MAC-level security. Manage and troubleshoot IP addressing, subnetting, and routing protocols (., OSPF, BGP, EIGRP). Configure routers, firewalls, and Layer 3 switches to ensure network segmentation and performance Monitor and analyze TCP/UDP traffic for performance, reliability, and error resolution. Assist with firewall rule management and port-based traffic routing strategies. Support unified communications platforms including VoIP and video conferencing solutions. Perform capacity planning, network optimization, and lifecycle management. Collaborate with stakeholders to assess and implement new technologies or upgrades. Maintain technical documentation and configuration baselines. Minimum Qualifications US Citizen. Must be able to pass a Federal Background check. Possess a valid driver’s license. Familiar with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc). Ability to make independent judgment and perform repetitive tasks. Within 90 days of start date, take and pass OSHA-10 Certification. Bachelors degree in network telecommunications or equivalent or 8 years of experience in this area.
