In this role, you will provide technical strategy and project assistance on Per- and polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) site investigation and remediation for clients locally, nationally, and internationally. We are open to various US and Canadian locations.
As a Technical Director, you will contribute leadership, client relationship, and technical consulting skills to support ERM’s business growth and client base, while networking with ERM's global SIR team to share best practices across the industry. RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) related to PFAS on various projects, including site investigation, remediation activities, product stewardship, and compliance. Collaborate with the North American leadership team to develop a global go-to market strategy related to PFAS. Oversee and provide technical expertise on site investigation and remediation projects for clients with complex technical/regulatory issues in sectors such as chemical, manufacturing, oil and gas, and other industries. Design and oversee installation of remedial solutions for contaminated soil, groundwater, vapor, and sediment, using innovative and traditional technologies. Assist clients in developing and implementing contaminated site management strategies. Evaluate remedial technologies for applicability at specific sites (e.g., feasibility screening). Perform remediation design tasks, including data evaluation, calculations, cost estimation, and report preparation. Delegate project assignments and mentor junior staff appropriately. Prepare technical proposals and participate in business development efforts. Build collaborative relationships within ERM. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, or geology/hydrogeology. Minimum 8 years consulting experience; 15 years preferred, working with industrial clients on complex site investigation/remediation and construction projects under various regulatory frameworks. Expertise in PFAS topics, including publications or conference presentations. Experience guiding remediation design projects and preparing detailed technical/environmental reports. Experience working with regulators and clients to facilitate project progress. Excellent writing, communication, strategic thinking, and interpersonal skills. Up-to-date Health and Safety training (HAZWOPER 40-hour and OSHA 30-hour). Anticipated annual base pay for this position ranges from $147,670 to $198,032 USD, based on education, experience, skills, location, and other factors. Compensation may vary outside this range. The role is also eligible for a discretionary performance bonus.
