Who you are - Systems Integration Engineer
You are a dynamic, detail oriented, intuitive person with the ability to develop relationships, build rapport and become a trusted team member. What you'll do Develop mechanical systems and interactive components (e.g., locks, levers, gears, actuators) for escape room puzzles and installations.
Collaborate with electrical and software engineers to integrate sensors, microcontrollers, and automation into mechanical designs.
Work within a shared tech stack to ensure seamless integration between physical and digital systems.
Design prototypes using CAD tools, 3D printing, and other fabrication methods.
Ensure the reliability and safety of all systems during live events and training sessions.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to align designs with learning objectives and user experience goals
Participate in sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives as part of an agile product team; contribute to iterative development cycles and rapid prototyping workflows.
Create and iterate detailed technical documentation, schematics, and maintenance guides for all systems.
Understand software development principles and version control practices to effectively collaborate with developers and ensure smooth integration between physical systems and digital platforms.
Own the full lifecycle of interactive systems-from concept and prototyping through deployment, maintenance, and eventual decommissioning or iteration.
Participate in user testing sessions and incorporate feedback to refine system performance, usability, and educational impact.
Ensure all fabricated systems meet relevant safety standards and operational guidelines, especially for public-facing or educational installations.
Track components, tools, and materials needed for fabrication and installation; coordinate with vendors or internal teams as needed.
Perform other tasks or functions as required, requested, necessary or prudent from time to time.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required: Experience in gamification or educational technology.
3+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in interactive exhibits, themed entertainment, or escape rooms.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360) a plus.
Hands-on experience with prototyping tools and fabrication techniques.
Familiarity with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or similar platforms for mechanical-electrical integration.
Should be able to show a portfolio of interactive installations and designs.
Experience working with or building integrated hardware/software systems.
Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for creative engineering.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Comfortable with iteration, failure, and learning from mistakes
Physical Demands/Conditions Required: This role requires frequent hands-on work with tools, mechanical components, and electronic systems in both workshop and field environments.
Must be able to lift and transport equipment and materials up to 50 lbs.
Requires standing, bending, and working in confined or elevated spaces during installation and troubleshooting.
Regular travel throughout the New England area is required for on-site setup, maintenance, and support of interactive systems.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
