As a Sustainability Engineer your responsibilities will be:
Safety
- Promote safety culture within the plant as a representative of the sustainability team
- Actively engage in safety procedures, protocols, initiatives, and training requirements
Corporate Sustainability
- Ensure compliance with recyclability and recycled content standards through support of audits, certifications, and regulatory initiatives.
- Support development of compelling presentations at sustainability-focused conferences and industry events to position the company as a thought leader.
- Represent the company in third-party sustainability organizations to elevate brand visibility and industry influence.
- Develop internal education content to build organizational awareness and alignment with evolving sustainability goals.
Product Sustainability
- Develop and optimize Sustainable Solutions product portfolio (GreenArrow™) to advance growth and profitability within the sustainable product portfolio.
- Become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for portions of the Sustainable Solutions product portfolio specific to design for recyclability or recycled content incorporation.
- Conduct routine quality audits to ensure formulation accuracy and consistency across the sustainable product line.
- Collaborate with technical teams during production sample runs to improve operational KPIs and product performance.
- Develop and execute troubleshooting strategies to enhance the performance and reliability of GreenArrow™ products and processes.
- Lead end-to-end product lifecycle support for GreenArrow™: lab testing, data analysis, product recommendations, quoting, ERP setup, and sample coordination.
- Champion cost avoidance initiatives, including scrap reduction and efficiency improvements at both corporate and plant levels.
A strong Corporate Sustainability Engineer will possess:
- BS in Engineering: Chemical, Packaging, Plastics, Sustainability or Industrial with an emphasis on Plastics/Polymers and/or Sustainability. BS in Chemistry or Polymer Science with appropriate emphasis may also qualify. Equivalent work experience with a specialization in Sustainability, Engineering, Plastics, Polymer or applicable Research and Development will also be considered.
- A minimum of 3 years applicable external job experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated skills in organization, attention to details, setting priorities and sound decision making
- Strong work and personal ethics
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated the ability to manage & prioritize multiple projects/tasks in order minimize response time
- Demonstrated continuous professional attitude with all levels of internal and external personnel
Safety at CNG:
- Ensure that safety and health concerns are given primary consideration in all activities
- Follows company guidelines and actively participates in all safety processes
- Carry out job/area specific housekeeping duties and maintain a high standard of professionalism
- Look for, report, and correct any near misses/unsafe conditions or behaviors as soon as possible
- Identify needed changes and make recommendations - find a better way
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues, requesting supervisor assistance when needed (use as needed)

- Team members are also required to frequently talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include; color vision acuity, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Team members in this role are exposed to seasonal temperature/humidity changes that can be near 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
