Our mission is to create advanced robots that can operate in complex environments, reducing human risk in conflict zones and enhancing efficiency in labor-intensive industries. We are looking for talented engineers and scientists to join our team. Previous robotics experience isn't required — your talent and determination are what matter most. We value diverse perspectives from various industries and fields. We seek individuals with a proven track record of exceptional ability and a history of creating effective solutions. All positions are based in San Francisco. Our Culture We are transparent about our culture so you can decide if it resonates with you. Read more about our culture here : https://foundation.bot/culture . Who should join: You prefer working in person with a team in San Francisco. You believe this mission is crucial for humanity and should happen urgently. You are highly technical, regardless of your role, and understand technology well. You care about aesthetics and design, striving for the best product. You are self-motivated and proactive. Why We Are Hiring for This Role Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) — collaborating with manufacturing teams to enable scalable production. Design the full-body mechanical system of the humanoid robot, integrating all subsystems (actuators, electronics, sensors, compute, thermal systems). Optimize for weight, strength, and manufacturability without compromising durability. Ensure structural integrity, thermal management, and vibration resistance to prevent failures. Work cross-functionally with AI, electrical, and actuator teams for system integration and reliability. Scale the robot’s design from prototype to production, addressing engineering challenges along the way. What We Are Looking For Expertise in lightweight materials, thermal management, and manufacturability for scalable, cost-effective production. Strong background in kinematics, structural mechanics, and system integration. Deep experience in full-body mechanical design for robotics, exoskeletons, aerospace, or high-performance systems. Proficiency in precision mechanical design, DFM/DFA, tolerance analysis, and failure prevention. Experience with FEA and multibody dynamics simulation. Comfort working with large, multi-component assemblies ensuring subsystem compatibility. Ability to optimize strength-to-weight ratios and prevent stress or wear issues. 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in robotics or aerospace. Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related; PhD is a plus. We offer standard benefits (health, vision, dental, 401k). Join us for the culture and mission, not just benefits. The annual salary ranges from $80,000 to $1,000,000, depending on skills, experience, and location.
