Who You’ll Be Joining Our 5-person Machine Learning team includes experts like the co-authors of wav2vec, leading child speech recognition systems. We work on multimodal ML, NLP, image generation, and speech perception, collaborating with Stanford advisors and industry research labs. We value face-to-face collaboration in our San Francisco office. About The Role As Tech Lead, you will work closely with the Co-Founder & CTO to design architecture for ML and GenAI efforts. You should have a strong AI foundation and a passion for transforming research into impactful products that benefit child development at scale. Your role will connect AI application development with third-party models and proprietary data. Oversee ML model deployment and development Lead by example, fostering excellence in architecture, coding, and research Mentor team members and provide feedback Maintain deployed models and data pipelines Lead research streams within Ello’s ML team Collaborate with engineering, TPM, and data teams on data collection, training, and deployment Stay updated with AI and ML advancements Required Experience 5+ years in ML engineering/research with Python and PyTorch 2+ years in GenAI product development, shipping real products 3+ years in building and scaling ML systems Experience establishing ML ops workflows, preferably on AWS with Terraform Proficiency in distributed data and training pipelines, Kubernetes, large language models, high-performance coding, and applied math Nice To Have Experience with voice AI and audio pipelines GPU cluster setup and multi-cloud training pipelines Full-stack web development and frontend API experience Leadership in ML teams, on-device systems, low-level deployment skills, and signal processing background What We Look For Innovative mindset and willingness to teach Pride in work and impact on child development Ownership and initiative Open, empathetic communication and integrity Desire to build meaningful relationships Why Join Us Lead a talented, growing team in a well-funded company Work at the forefront of AI and interactive learning Engage with research while building products Support child development with tangible, impactful work Additional Notes Ello sponsors US visas and green cards, with experience in securing O-1 and H-1B visas.
