This role

As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer at PayJoy, you will leverage your expertise in machine learning and software engineering to design, develop, and scale solutions that power our data science applications. You are interested in building scalable data solutions rather than one-off models. You will join a team focused on creating robust ML pipelines and infrastructure to serve tens of millions of users, contributing to our mission to improve access to credit and technology in emerging markets, and creating positive impacts for millions of users across our operating countries.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with global teams to deliver impactful data products worldwide.
• Build ML pipelines that optimize processes for our lending products, including anti-fraud measures, credit strategy, and marketing optimization.
• Enhance our ML infrastructure for better scalability and reliability.
• Mentor engineers and data scientists on best practices in ML engineering.
• Lead data products from conception through to scalable deployment.

Requirements

• PhD or master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience as a machine learning engineer, data scientist, or similar role with proven impact.
• Expertise in machine learning algorithms, frameworks, and lifecycle management, from data extraction and feature engineering to model deployment and monitoring.
• Strong software design skills and proficiency in Python and related libraries (e.g., Scikit-Learn, Pandas, Flask, FastAPI).
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong written and verbal communication.
• Experience with cloud providers, preferably AWS, and related data services.
