Staff Engineer, Electrical Design - Power The Staff Engineer, Electrical Design - Power develops new electrical systems/circuits for various applications. You will research system ideas and draw up plans for these systems, and capture them in schematics and system specifications. Other responsibilities will be testing, simulation, validating and qualifying the systems and make adjustments as needed. You will need to provide support throughout the manufacturing of the electrical systems that have been designed. The role will work in cross functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development. You will enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations. Detailed Description Lead the design, development and implementation of technical solutions for complex projects, involving multiple domains. Participate in project planning and scheduling. Provides technical leadership and direction to a sizable team of engineers. May be a recognized expert in one or more technical areas. Takes responsibility for non-technical elements of an engineering project. Reviews and interprets customer requirements/specifications and may act as primary customer contract. Analyze trade-offs in complex systems and recommend solutions. Develops deployment strategies and plans. Leads the deployment of strategic complex programs and coordinates site-wide deployment efforts. May manage relationships with key vendors/partners. Design, modify and implement systems that meet customer and company needs. Testing, simulation and measuring the performance of systems. Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations. Solve complex problems. Liaison with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams. Analyze and interpret data and information. Recommend modifications for systems. Create reports, minutes and updates. Considered a Subject Matter Expert in the area of power design. Deep knowledge of DC/DC power topologies and tradeoffs. Experienced in designing power systems for networking, compute, or storage products. Experienced in high current, high-phase count designs for ASICs and GPUs. Experienced in PCB stack-up, power planes, and tools used to simulate voltage gradients. Familiarity with schematic capture and CAD layout tools. Proficient with circuit simulation tools such as PSPICE and LTSPICE. Knowledge of high-density power modules and Vertical Power Delivery. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present to various audiences effectively. Physical Demands Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment. Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. Repetitive manual movements are frequently required. Occasional travel may be required. Typical Experience 9 to 12 years of related experience. Typical Education Bachelor degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
