Sr. Structural Engineer

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our team in Sacramento, CA with deep expertise in the design, analysis, and project management of bridges, water/wastewater facilities, and other public infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience working on municipal projects, including those within the right-of-way (R/W), and will be adept at leading multidisciplinary teams through all phases of design and construction.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead structural design and analysis of bridges, retaining walls, culverts, tanks, and facilities for water and wastewater systems.
Serve as a technical expert in code interpretation, load calculations, seismic analysis, and rehabilitation/retrofit projects.
Prepare construction documents, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates in compliance with local and federal standards.
Oversee the development of technical reports, permitting applications, and construction submittals.
Coordinate with agencies, municipalities, utility companies, and stakeholders in the public works sector.
Lead design teams and mentor junior engineers and drafters.
Manage project schedules, budgets, and client communications.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes such as AASHTO, ACI, ASCE, and IBC.
Support marketing efforts and proposal development for new business opportunities.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
15+ years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on bridges and water/wastewater/public works infrastructure.
California Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Experience with Caltrans or equivalent DOT bridge standards is a strong plus.
Familiarity working in and designing for the right-of-way (R/W) environment.
Proficient in structural design software (e.g., SAP2000, STAAD, RISA, Open Bridge Designer, CSiBridge, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit).
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Preferred Experience:
Seismic design in high-risk zones.
Rehabilitation of aging municipal infrastructure.
Construction phase services and field investigations.
Experience with public utilities and environmental compliance.
Salary Range:
$90,000 to $130,000 (DOE)
