Group/Division
With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG) creates all of KLA's metrology and inspection products. The RAPID division specializes in reticle inspection solutions for the semiconductor industry, providing inspection services to mask shops and fabs to ensure high lithography yields and cost-effective manufacturing.
Job Description/Preferred Qualifications
The RAPID division seeks a mid-career Mechanical Design Engineer to support sustaining programs for RAPID. The role involves maintaining legacy systems in high-volume manufacturing, focusing on the design, fabrication, and performance characterization of opto-mechanical modules, precision mechanisms, and mechatronic systems. The engineer will build technical relationships with vendors and eventually own the design process, including requirements specification, analysis (FEA, thermal, CFD), detailed design, prototyping, testing, and system integration. Responsibilities include:
Create innovative designs involving precision mechanisms, UHV systems, opto-mechanical design, vibration isolation, and electronic packaging.
Develop understanding of tolerance analysis, GD&T, error budgeting, and requirements flow.
Perform finite element analysis, thermal analysis, and modal analysis.
Build vendor relationships for fabrication, process transfer, and qualification.
Select materials and resolve fabrication methods.
Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and NPI teams.
Demonstrate understanding of physics and mechanics.
Mechanical design, testing, and troubleshooting.
Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (ProE/Creo preferred).
Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate (Academic) Degree with no work experience OR Master's Degree with 3 years related experience OR Bachelor's Degree with 5 years related experience.
Base Pay Range: $114,100 - $194,000 annually.
