The Senior Lead Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, deployment, and optimization of manufacturing processes to achieve Celestica's quality, cost, and delivery goals. This role serves as a technical leader, guiding NPI launches, process development, and cross-functional alignment with customer requirements.
Detailed Description
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
Collaborate with design engineering teams to optimize L10-L11 datacenter server and rack designs for manufacturability and assembly efficiency
Conduct DFM/DFA reviews during product development phases to identify cost reduction opportunities and manufacturing constraints
Develop manufacturing guidelines and design standards specific to datacenter rack components and assemblies
Create detailed assembly sequence documentation and work instructions
Interface with customers and suppliers to ensure component designs align with manufacturing capabilities
Design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for datacenter rack production lines
Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and quality control procedures
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time, minimize waste, and improve product quality
Implement new manufacturing technologies and automation solutions to enhance production efficiency
Troubleshoot complex manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions
Champion lean manufacturing principles, including 5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping, and waste elimination
Lead cross-functional teams in implementing lean initiatives across the production floor
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices
Facilitate problem-solving sessions using root cause analysis methodologies
Drive culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence
Conduct comprehensive time and motion studies to establish accurate labor standards
Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for productivity improvement
Develop capacity planning models and production forecasting tools
Create performance metrics and KPIs to monitor manufacturing efficiency
Implement data-driven solutions to optimize resource allocation and workflow
Design and optimize manufacturing floor layouts for maximum efficiency and safety
Plan material flow, workstation ergonomics, and equipment placement
Develop and standardize robust manufacturing processes and procedures for liquid cooling integration within L11 racks, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and compliance with all safety and quality specifications.
Implement comprehensive process controls and define clear operational procedures for each stage of the liquid cooling loop assembly, testing, and validation, minimizing defects and maximizing throughput in L11 rack production.
Communicate critical technical and business issues to executive and operational leadership
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
NPI-PCBA, SMT, PTH, Press Fit, Board-level Mechanical Assembly, Tooling Design, Data Analytics
Structural Test & Inspection Processes (AOI, AXI, Functional Test)
Optical Component Assembly, Wire Harnessing, Fiber Splicing
Engineering Control & System Tools (ODC/SCE)
DFM, DFA, DFR, KPI Analysis, IPC-610
Previous experience with liquid cooling for L11 racks
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies
Experience with manufacturing execution systems (MES)
Physical Demands
Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
Occasional travel may be required.
Typical Experience
4 to 6 years in a similar role or industry.
Typical Education
Bachelor degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
