Job Title:  Senior Equipment Engineer Employment Type:  Full-Time, Permanent Work Location:  Fully On-Site – Norwich, NY Description: Our client is seeking a Senior Equipment Engineer to support pharmaceutical development projects. This role involves specifying, installing, and optimizing process equipment for both internal and third-party initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong engineering expertise, problem-solving skills, and leadership in equipment design and troubleshooting. Key Responsibilities: Technical Duties Specify, purchase, install, and commission new process equipment Lead product-driven upgrades and modifications to existing equipment Develop and execute equipment qualification protocols (IQ, OQ, PQ) Create and maintain facility equipment layout drawings Lead or support equipment-related troubleshooting and root cause analysis Design and implement machine development projects and engineered solutions Collaborate with external vendors, integrators, and design firms Develop User Requirement Specifications (URS) Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) Provide advanced technical support to maintenance and operations teams Prepare technical scopes and cost estimates for new equipment Administrative Duties Draft and manage Capital Authorization Requests (CARs) Track project budgets and timelines; maintain accurate documentation Report project status regularly to stakeholders Train staff on new equipment and systems Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Establish spare parts inventory and operating procedures Work independently or as part of cross-functional project teams Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 6+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical equipment engineering, or an associate degree with 8+ years of experience Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and Word Strong technical writing, communication, and leadership skills Ability to interpret technical drawings and manage multiple priorities Collaborative mindset with excellent interpersonal skills GMP Decision-Making Authority Approve change controls related to assigned systems Approve validation and commissioning documentation Provide technical input for product release and rejection decisions in collaboration with QA
