Title: Sr. Engineer Location: East Puerto Rico (Open to Puerto Rico Residents Only) Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite Administrative Shift; Non-Standard Shifts as Required Positions: 1 Contract Duration: Approximately 6 Months Employer: Contract position through ProQuality Network
Summary The Sr. Engineer will independently lead the characterization of process optimization strategies and troubleshoot operational issues in operations, manufacturing, pilot plant, or capital projects environments. This role applies advanced and diverse engineering principles to the design and implementation of major system modifications, experiments, and process or capital projects. Responsibilities include developing, organizing, analyzing, and presenting interpretations of results for operational challenges or engineering projects of significant scope and complexity.
Key Responsibilities
General Complete complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new and/or improved engineering techniques and procedures. Develop engineering policies and procedures impacting multiple organizational units. Supervise, coordinate, and review work of a small team of engineers, associates, and/or technicians. Employ advanced engineering techniques and adapt methodologies within area of expertise. Apply cross-disciplinary engineering knowledge to a wide variety of assignments. Serve as a peer-recognized technical expert in at least one area, determining methodologies and best practices. Apply mature engineering knowledge in planning and conducting projects. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Design Engineering Develop innovative technical solutions to complex problems. Collaborate with research, manufacturing, process development, utilities, facilities, quality assurance, and validation teams to define requirements for large and complex system/facility modifications. Partner with project managers to deliver design and engineering projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards. Coordinate with consultants, architects, and engineering firms to develop standard design documents. Prepare departmental or project budgets covering multiple disciplines.
Education Doctorate in Engineering, OR Masters degree + 2 years of engineering experience, OR Bachelors degree in Engineering + 4 years of engineering experience.
Competencies & Skills
Technical Knowledge Working knowledge of pharmaceutical/biotech processes. Familiarity with validation processes and GMP/GLP documentation requirements. Ability to apply engineering science to production environments. Specialized equipment/process expertise. In-depth knowledge of validation processes and requirements for new equipment installations. Strong understanding of financial analysis tools.
Demonstrated Abilities Problem solving and applied engineering techniques. Technical report writing and presentations. Validation protocol execution and development. Technical equipment knowledge (CIP/SIP cycle development preferred). Project planning, scheduling, and resource management. Conflict resolution, negotiation, and vendor/contractor management. Leadership, teambuilding, and collaboration. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications Bachelors or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering . Project management experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries. Experience in equipment commissioning, qualification, and installation qualification. Experience in CIP and SIP cycle development. Strong organizational skills and multitasking capabilities. Experience developing project plans and execution strategies. Knowledge of Maximo or similar asset management systems.
