Sr Digital Design Engineer Employment Type: Full time, on-site with relocation support available
About the Role
Help shape the future of space exploration with a dynamic team of engineers creating advanced computing solutions that can withstand the demands of space travel. As a Sr Digital Design Engineer, you will own complex digital board development from concept through release, partner closely with FPGA and systems teams, and see your designs fly on mission-critical platforms. Expect hands-on influence, cutting-edge technology, interdisciplinary teamwork, and a work environment that empowers robust engineering practices with tangible support and opportunities for professional advancement.
What you will do
• Create advanced digital control and data handling boards, guiding them through the entire development lifecycle from design inception to release, including circuit design, component selection, and constraint definition, in tight coordination with PCB layout team.
• Collaborate with FPGA and RTL engineers on high speed interfaces, timing, and verification for sensors, actuation, and on board computing.
• Lead prototype bring up, lab debug, and system integration testing on new builds, driving issues to root cause.
• Develop and implement verification strategies, create comprehensive test protocols, and guarantee extensive testing aligns with all specified requirements.
• Perform worst case analysis and derating studies, as well as signal integrity and power integrity reviews.
• Build digital simulations and test benches using industry EDA tools, and apply results to refine designs.
• Perform comparative analyses, record findings, and effectively communicate technical information to colleagues, management, and clients.
• Partner with multidisciplinary teams spanning systems, mechanical, manufacturing, and software to bridge the gap between requirements and rugged, dependable hardware designs.
• Create comprehensive design records, including documentation, analyses, and release packages, to ensure configuration management and control.
• Guide and develop junior engineers while promoting best practices and standards in a dynamic, mission-focused setting.
What you bring
• BS in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline required; advanced degree (MS or PhD) highly desirable.
• 8 or more years in digital hardware design for high reliability or mission-critical products.
• Hands-on experience with processors and FPGAs, high speed memory, data converters, and common digital links.
• Strength in timing budgets, signal integrity, power integrity, worst case analysis, and design for test.
• Fluency with schematic capture and constraint management in modern ECAD tools, and close collaboration with PCB layout.
• Comfortable in the lab using scopes, logic and protocol analyzers for bring up and root cause analysis.
• Clear documentation and presentation skills, able to drive reviews and cross-functional alignment.
• S. work authorization required, eligibility for programs with government customers is a plus.
Why this opportunity
• Lucrative compensation package featuring performance incentives, thorough health coverage, 401k plan with company contributions, and relocation aid.
• Generous PTO policy and investment in your career, featuring mentorship and pathways for leadership advancement.
