Sr. Design Engineer - Air Compressor Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Engineering, this is an ideal opportunity to step into a challenging role directly impacting the security of our nation. As we expand our Air Compressor offerings, CW is looking for an experienced air compressor and rotating machinery design engineer who can help us lead cutting edge air compressor technology into the next generation of Navy vessels.
The ideal candidate will have obtained their BS in Mechanical Engineering, or other equivalent field of study, and will have a minimum of 7 years’ experience in the air compressor industry.  In this position, you will be challenged on an individual level through one or more customer funded programs with the support of your peers and management.
Location: Remote (preferred Bethlehem, PA)
Salary/hourly rate: $127,100 to $150,000 Please note that the salary range information provided is a general guideline only, reflecting a position based in Pennsylvania. Your Challenge Direct or perform the design and development of reciprocating and centrifugal compressor products including the development and management of project work plans and the project execution to satisfy technical, cost, and schedule objectives
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and other departments to develop overall compressor system solutions
Manage the overall development costs as well as the costs of the resulting products
Define and manage product design requirements in accordance with internal and contract requirements
Develop engineering models and perform analyses to support the design of the compressor products
Lead project engineering team meetings with internal resources, customers and the US Navy
Prepare procedures, and train and support manufacturing technicians to ensure the products are manufactured, assembled and tested correctly
Develop tooling and prepare engineering drawings and specifications to support the manufacture and test of the products including the disposition of non-conformances that occur
Prepare and submit test procedures, reports, operating guidelines, maintenance plans and other software deliverables
Analyze test results to confirm product performance compliance, design adequacy, and to identify areas for product improvement
Support the entire product life-cycle including field support, trouble-shooting, repair and operator support
Implement product improvement programs to minimize cost, improve performance, improve reliability and promote standardization
Support the development of proposals including the review of contracts and specifications
Maintain effective customer communications, ensuring that all customer requirements are addressed effectively
Communicate project progress, issues, and/or resolution options to project team members, customers and internal management

What You Bring Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain security clearances
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical Preferred) with minimum 7 years’ experience in the reciprocating or centrifugal compressor industry
Project management or project leadership while working in a team environment preferred
Material processing knowledge (Machining and Fabrication)
Knowledge of Industry Standards (Military, ASTM, SAE, etc)
Proficiency with a solid modeling program (SolidWorks Preferred)
FEA experience a plus
Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Excellent organization, communication (written and oral), and presentation skills
Self-starter, motivated, and action-oriented individual able to excel in an environment with individual accountability
Travel 10% or less
