Job Description
This role will report directly into the Director of Automation Engineering and be responsible for:
- Managing automation capital projects from design, integration, installation, and commissioning, ensuring they are delivering expected value to Plant Operations.
- Reviewing existing automation systems to identify opportunities for improving safety, manufacturing efficiency, quality, throughput, and supporting vertical integration across plant boundaries.
- Researching, designing, and developing control systems for industrial use by applying knowledge in control engineering.
- Acting as a technical expert across the campus, troubleshooting automated equipment and robotic cells.
- Diagnosing problems and performing repairs or modifications on automated production equipment, using advanced electrical, electronic, and mechanical skills while minimizing downtime and preventing recurrence.
- Upgrading obsolete or hard-to-source components to ensure system reliability and maintainability.
- Ensuring proper documentation of electrical controls and maintaining source code management for software programs.
- Collaborating with IT, Plant Operations, and external contractors to streamline and promote enterprise-wide automation solutions.
- Training shop floor personnel and maintenance/engineering technicians on the operation and troubleshooting of automated equipment.

The Successful Applicant
The successful candidate will have:
- 7+ years of managing capital improvement projects
- PLC programming experience, Allen-Bradley preferred
- Robotics and electrical schematics familiarity
- Pneumatic, hydraulic systems and circuits knowledge
- PID control, P&ID drawings, servo systems familiarity
- Hands on experience troubleshooting electrical, controls, and programs of industrial automation and robotic equipment
