Join to apply for the Sr. ASIC Modem Design Engineer, Project Kuiper role at Amazon
Project Kuiper aims to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites providing low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity worldwide.
We are hiring a Sr. Modem Design Engineer within a high-performance ASIC design team that uses industry-leading methodologies to develop proprietary IPs.
The Role Be part of Project Kuiper’s sub-team responsible for defining and implementing digital chip SOCs for satellite communications and Amazon gateways. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop state-of-the-art wireless solutions with minimal legacy constraints. The team collaborates with customer requirements and wireless system teams to define modems, high-speed interfaces, embedded processors, and DSP solutions using latest CMOS technologies.
In This Role You Will
Implement wireless system architecture in silicon from system specification to chip specification, RTL, and optimize timing/power for chip validation.
Develop solutions to optimize customer experience (throughput, latency, and availability) while meeting power and cost constraints.
Drive high-quality designs for first-time silicon solutions meeting power objectives.
Create standalone verification test benches to verify your blocks.
Work with verification teams and participate in system-level verification using test benches with System Verilog, UVM, System C, or DPI-C.
Ensure blocks meet DFT, timing, and power targets by collaborating with the implementation team.
Learn about system requirements and solutions for space applications.
Drive trade-off analysis to enhance customer experience and resource optimization (costs, power, spectrum).
Export Control Requirement Applicants must be U.S. citizens, nationals, Green Card holders, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as refugees or asylees due to export control laws.
Key Responsibilities
Engage with architects and system engineers to drive hardware micro-architecture.
Interpret reference models in MATLAB.
Design control plane logic and interfaces to bus fabrics.
Propose innovative ideas for modem optimization.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Communications Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
7+ years in digital logic design, preferably in DSP or communication systems.
Experience in designing and implementing DSP algorithms and systems in RTL.
Ability to convert DSP algorithms into RTL and optimize for performance, power, and area.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical/Communications Engineering.
10+ years in micro-architecture development and RTL design, preferably in communications.
Familiarity with UVM and MATLAB.
Experience with assertions and formal verification.
