The Solution Engineer - Ports & Terminals will be responsible for designing and delivering operational and technical solutions in response to RFQs and business opportunities across the Americas. This role will support business development, process improvement, and operational excellence initiatives by leveraging engineering principles, Lean Six Sigma methodologies, and industry best practices. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scalable, efficient, and standardized solutions for port and terminal operations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Lead the solution design process for M&A and expansion opportunities across the Americas region
Collaborate with commercial, operations, and engineering teams to develop tailored solutions that meet customer requirements and align with DP World's strategic goals
Conduct feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, and operational modeling to support solution proposals
Compute and model resource requirements including Full-Time Equivalents (FTE), Material Handling Equipment (MHE), capacity calculations and infrastructure needs
Develop and optimize terminal layouts and planning strategies to support operational efficiency and scalability
Design and document process flows, incorporating simulations, 3D renderings, and animations using TwinMotion or similar visualization tools to enhance solution clarity and stakeholder engagement
Perform capacity planning and scenario analysis to ensure alignment with projected demand and operational constraints
Document and analyze current (As-Is) and future (To-Be) processes using BPMN standards
Apply Lean Six Sigma tools (e.g., Value Stream Mapping, FMEA, Control Plans) to identify and implement process improvements
Create process flow maps and standard operating procedures (SOP) for existing and new sites
Support automation, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives across terminals
Participate in terminal development projects and contribute to strategic planning and resource optimization
Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure successful project execution
Ensure all solutions comply with safety, environmental, and operational standards
Act as an ambassador for DP World's principles, values, and culture
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS Minimum 5 years of experience in terminal operations, logistics, or solution engineering; international experience preferred
Proven experience in designing and implementing operational solutions in a port or terminal environment
Strong understanding of maritime logistics, terminal planning, and equipment utilization
Experience with M&A response processes and business development support
Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma methodologies and process improvement frameworks
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, and simulation/modeling
