Applied Materials, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer [Req #V581] in Santa Clara, CA to: Develop code and documentation for a variety of difficult software projects, and design and implement bug fixes. Design a variety of difficult software projects. Define software specifications. Interface with internal customers for requirements analysis and schedule. Design a variety of moderately difficult software modules and write the software specifications for these modules. Troubleshoots a variety of moderately difficult software problems. Performs software tests on code and enhancements. Interfaces with external and internal customers regarding software issues. Compiles data for regularly scheduled or special reports and analysis. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience; may lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements. Develops software documentation. Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information. Mentor other junior employees. Telecommuting permitted throughout the US.

Requirements:

Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field and five (5) years of industry experience in the position offered or related capacity(ies). Demonstrate knowledge and/or experience in each of the following: 1. Software design concepts such as Object-Oriented Programming, Component-based approach, Abstraction, Change Management, Scalability, Encapsulation and Modularity; 2. Develop applications in C, C++, C#; 3. Experience with Python or Perl scripting; 4. Experience with Javascript; 5. Configuration management systems such as GIT, Jira, Confluence and be familiar with configuration management concepts; 6. Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio IDE and associated tools; and 7. Experience with Linux and/or Microsoft platforms.

Salary range: $226,158 to $271,389 per year
