About the Role As a Software Engineer on the Platform Health team, you’ll design, build, and support backend services and infrastructure that are foundational to our development ecosystem. You'll work on Java services, enhance NGINX-based delivery systems, and develop CI/CD automation using GitHub Actions. You'll also contribute to platform-wide efforts that improve scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency. This role involves a balance of hands-on coding, systems design, and collaboration across engineering teams. You’ll play a key role in enabling other developers to ship high-quality software efficiently and safely. As part of our commitment to service ownership, this role includes participation in a paid on-call rotation to support the systems you help build. About You You’re a seasoned developer who enjoys building tools and systems that help others succeed. You’re comfortable working across the stack, thrive in cross-functional environments, and take pride in creating reliable, maintainable services. Basic Qualifications
3+ years building backend services with Java and Spring Boot. 1+ year of experience in writing and debugging Bash scripts on Linux-based systems. 1+ of practical experience developing automation or deployment scripts using Python. 4 year degree in a computer related field or equivalent experience
Other Qualifications
Proven track record of containerizing and deploying applications using Docker in production environments. Hands-on experience configuring and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions. Background in configuring NGINX for static content delivery or enhancing functionality using Lua (e.g., via OpenResty). Familiar with observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or the ELK stack. Exposure to managing CI/CD workflows for static assets or frontend build pipelines. Experience contributing to improvements in system reliability, scalability, or performance. Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and services across AWS, GCP, or Azure. Understanding of asynchronous processing and fault-tolerant service patterns, including retries and circuit breakers. Experience supporting internal platform tools or developer self-service systems. Strong written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
