Protecnium is an international consulting firm specializing in engineering and technical services in construction. We are currently seeking a Site Mechanical Engineer for a large-scale solar power plant project in Texas, USA.
Position Details
Position: Site Mechanical Engineer Estimated Duration: Approximately 2 years. Upon project completion, we aim to assign the employee to other national or international projects to ensure continuity. Location: Texas, USA (likely Leon County or Milano County, near Austin) – 100% on-site Schedule : Monday to Friday, 9 hours daily (including 1 hour for lunch), subject to project workload and needs
Position Description
We are looking for a Site Mechanical Engineer with solid experience in the construction of utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) plants, specifically from the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contractor side. The engineer will be responsible for supervising and coordinating all mechanical activities on-site during the construction phase, ensuring full compliance with quality standards, construction schedules, and HSE regulations.
This role demands strong technical expertise in mechanical works, excellent coordination skills, and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset in a multidisciplinary construction environment.
Responsibilities
Oversee mechanical installation activities, including mounting structures, module installation, tracker systems (if applicable), and other related components Ensure accurate interpretation and execution of mechanical drawings and technical documentation Coordinate with subcontractors and other disciplines (civil, electrical) to guarantee smooth and efficient construction progress Perform quality inspections and ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable industry standards Confirm proper alignment, torqueing, and installation of structural supports and PV modules Supervise the delivery, storage, and handling of mechanical components and materials on-site Manage all mechanical-related documentation: as-built drawings, quality reports, checklists, and work procedures Collaborate with the HSE team to enforce safety measures during all mechanical operations Provide regular progress reports to the Site Manager and proactively address issues or deviations from the project plan Deliver technical assistance to on-site construction and assembly teams
Requirements
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical qualification Minimum 5 years of experience in the construction of utility-scale PV plants from the EPC contractor side Proven experience in the construction of photovoltaic plant projects of at least 70- 80 MW capacity. Experience working with construction and engineering firms Proficiency in interpreting mechanical plans and managing quality control documentation Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills English (minimum B2 level); Spanish is a strong asset Availability to relocate and work full-time on-site
