The organization is currently seeking a Mobile SAF-IS Regional Program Specialist at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma and surrounding area to support the Service to Armed Forces and International Services Division mission. This position is regional and mobile, requiring meeting medical and security clearances prior to employment. Worldwide deployment is a condition of employment. Mobile staff typically deploy for 6 months at a time, approximately once every 18–24 months, to any military base in the world. Relocation assistance is available only for current employees within a 50-mile radius within the division. What You Need To Know Manage and administer the delivery of American Red Cross services for United States military members, veterans, and their families in accordance with Red Cross policies and procedures. Support International Services programs and services. Provide support, development, and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers. Perform duties in compliance with standard operating procedures and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Relationship Management and Community Outreach: Serve as the “face” of the Red Cross at assigned locations. Build strong relationships with military leadership, key organizations, and community leaders. Cultivate relationships with external constituents in the local community, including government organizations, corporate partners, civic organizations, and other nonprofit agencies. Outreach includes command meetings, education briefings, presentations, or information sessions.
Volunteer Management: Manage a volunteer engagement program to enable delivery of Red Cross programs on a military installation and in the local community. Recruits and trains leadership volunteers; manages the Volunteer Connection Platform to recruit, train, recognize, and communicate with volunteers.
Service Delivery Management: Ensure consistent delivery of SAF and IS U.S. services to clients. Supervise Service Delivery staff. Coordinate services to military treatment facilities and VA hospitals; support rehabilitation, material assistance, resiliency training, and morale items. Implement community outreach, events, and workshops; support emergency communications as appropriate.
Financial and Reporting Management: Develop and manage budgets; monitor program outcomes and drive continuous improvement to meet metrics.
What You Need To Succeed Education: Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, human resources management, community organization, social or health sciences, or related field is required; or related equivalent experience.
Experience: A minimum of five years related experience in program management or related field is required.
Managerial Experience: n/a
Skills and Abilities: Strong computer skills; public speaking and effective written and verbal communication; strong interpersonal skills; ability to balance multiple priorities; familiarity with military culture, regulations, and protocol is strongly desired. Experience with American Red Cross programs is strongly desired.
Work Conditions Work may require ordinary ambulatory skills to visit locations; ability to stand, walk, and lift/move light to medium weights up to 20 pounds. Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity; ability to read technical information. Mobility is essential. May include long periods of sitting, driving, and working under challenging conditions. Work is indoors with potential exposure to safety and health hazards related to emergency services relief. Travel and attendance at meetings and conferences within jurisdiction is possible. Staff may be on 24-hour call during major disasters.
Mobile Positions Only Some positions are designated as mobile and require deployment. Responsibilities are similar to non-mobile staff, with additional readiness requirements for deployment.
Support day-to-day operations and emergencies as a member of the Hero Care Network Contingency Team.
Complete trainings to maintain casework proficiency; respond to emergencies, surge, and disaster situations.
Readiness and Mobility
Maintain medical and security requirements.
Annual deployment familiarization; participate in deployments as activated.
Mobility: U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain secret clearance and no-fee U.S. passport; worldwide mobility is an essential function; willingness to work anywhere, including conflict areas.
Readiness to wear military uniforms and work in harsh environments; may accompany the military on deployments.
