About the program:
AIR6500 is the RAAF’s $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked ‘system of systems’ that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace. Your responsibilities will include: As a Senior Systems Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the AIR6500 system by leading scenario development, analysing requirements, and designing integrated capabilities at both system and sub-system levels. Your expertise will help guide critical design decisions across the program. In this role, you will: Decompose and develop system and sub-system level requirements using Model-Based Engineering (MBE) tools Define and document key system interfaces within the MBE environment Conduct trade-off studies to resolve design options against system requirements Produce essential technical documentation and artefacts, including solution descriptions, requirement definitions, and trade studies Work collaboratively with internal Subject Matter Experts and industry partners to drive alignment across engineering reviews and project milestones We have multiple opportunities available across Adelaide, Newcastle, and Canberra. About you: To be successful in this role, you will have: Tertiary qualifications in Systems Engineering, Applied/Experimental Physics, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. Significant knowledge and experience in the application of System Engineering, Integration and Verification on large complex systems Well-developed knowledge in one or more of Command & Control, Command Support or Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance domains in a Defence context Extensive experience with development of systems design for large complex systems Strong understanding in the application of Model Based Engineering (MBE) principles Well-developed knowledge and experience working within an Agile (Scrum) development project An Australian NV-1 security clearance and ability to access/handle Export Controlled technology, data and information Special Requirements: Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance and employment may be contingent on the provision of further personal information including citizenship to ensure compliance with international export control legislation and regulations.
