Description The National Security Sector at Leidos is looking for a skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join a dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your system administration and software programming expertise while working with a small team that manages a range of mission-critical systems. Key Details: Work hours are from 0600-1600
On-call duty is required one weekend every six weeks
Candidates must successfully complete a medical clearance process before starting work.
Primary Responsibilities: Oversight of medium-to-large-scale government data warehouses and digital archive management
Implementation and maintenance of interface control documents for government system interconnects
Ensure compliance with security requirements
Provide tiered help desk support to users on-site
Work onsite in a SCIF with operational pager and cell phone duty rotation
Contribute technical insights to develop the system's cloud hosting strategy
Create monitoring dashboards to assess software operational status
Report metrics and performance regarding system health for large-scale storage and processing systems
Manage storage maintenance and capacity planning
Troubleshoot hardware/software issues
Programming in Microsoft WSH and LINUS shell
Manage audit log administration
Provide expert support for Enterprise Linux infrastructure administration
Support information security system requirements pertaining to Linux hosts
Utilize Puppet or other configuration management tools to manage Linux systems and handle IAVA vulnerabilities
Enhance system operations, including monitoring and optimizing hardware platforms
Implement STIG guidance to facilitate ATO sustainment
Troubleshoot network, automation pipelines, and infrastructure issues
Manage cloud services, compute services, and monitor visibility and identity management
Experience with database administration and Linux command-based troubleshooting
Assist in maintaining system administration and security policy documentation
Document system configuration, external service dependencies, and standard procedures
Required Clearance: Active and in-scope TS/SCI with polygraph is required. US citizenship is necessary. Minimum Education, Skills, and Experience: Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience, or master's degree and 6+ years of experience. Additional related experience and certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree.
5+ years of technical expertise in managing automated system platforms for the intelligence community.
Proven experience with Linux, database administration, and scripting
Experience in maintaining hardware, software, cloud components, LANs, WANs, SAN, and NAS.
Deployment and maintenance experience with open-source and custom applications, including ATO and patching for cybersecurity compliance
Strong communication skills with the ability to convey ideas effectively to customers and team members
Familiarity with authentication and authorization fundamentals
Degree or equivalent demonstrated experience in a related technical field
Experience with tools such as Apache Webserver, PostGres SQL/PostGIS, RedHat LINUX, FreeIPA, Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Office, and geospatial products
Experience in deploying and maintaining network hardware, including Firewall, switch, router installations, and server maintenance
Additional Skills Desired: Familiarity with common industry software tools and systems administration
Understanding of data management, integration, user interface, hardware, and databases
Strong Linux skills and familiarity with hybrid cloud/on-prem architecture, including AWS
CI/CD development experience with tools like Jenkins, GitLab, Ansible, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and Docker
Certifications: Microsoft Certifications, Cisco Network Certifications, Linux Certifications, AWS Certifications, and Geospatial Certifications
