Ford Model E Platform Architecture Engineering is seeking a Staff Embedded Software Engineer to work on Platform OTA. You will collaborate with the solution architect to clarify requirements and develop automotive software solutions and embedded modules for electric vehicles, ensuring reliable and secure platform updates. You will be expected to challenge the status quo and adapt quickly to new ideas, embracing a fast-failing approach. Responsibilities
What you’ll be able to do: Lead the development of next-generation software update components for electric vehicles. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and technical specialists to design integrated solutions. Partner with cross-functional teams to define objectives, scope, timelines, milestones, and deliverables. Coordinate with system owners on planning, implementation, testing, documentation, and maintenance of solutions across cloud, on-premise, and hybrid systems using established processes and tools. Analyze and improve system efficiency, stability, and scalability. Integrate solutions with existing embedded system components. Interface with hardware design teams. Participate in software and hardware design reviews. Integrate and test new software builds on prototype vehicle platforms. Deliver artifacts to OTA and program teams for production releases. Develop regression tests and ensure adequate code coverage for releases. Qualifications
Minimum requirements: B.S. in Electrical, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. 10+ years of proven experience in software engineering. Good understanding of POSIX environments and cloud technologies. Hands-on experience in embedded systems development and troubleshooting. Programming skills in C, C++, and Python; knowledge of Rust is a plus. Strong documentation, writing, and communication skills. Willingness to learn and explore new areas. M.S. in Electrical, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. Experience with OTA systems. Programming experience in Rust. Experience with open-source technologies like Yocto, Xen, Automotive Grade Linux, AOSP. Understanding of on-board and off-board (cloud) communication protocols. What you’ll receive in return:
