In this pivotal role, you will collaborate with Systems Engineers, Software Engineers, Architects, and Operations Engineers to undertake a variety of tasks that encompass middle-tier and backend engineering. Most tasks will be performed on-site at our client location in Bethesda, MD, but we offer flexible scheduling with opportunities for occasional remote work based on client requirements. Your Key Responsibilities Include: Develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems, including processing-intensive analytics and business management applications. Contribute valuable insights into system design, focusing on hardware/software trade-offs and requirements analysis. Design, implement, and integrate software applications effectively. Utilize software engineering methodologies tailored to the development and production environments. Participate in testing, staging, and deployment in production settings. Assist in maintaining services and procedures for a big data pipeline, including Kafka and Elasticsearch. Develop and integrate Docker containers for deployment on Kubernetes. Monitor automated system tests to identify failed modules. Manage project priorities, deliverables, and deadlines independently. Foster collaboration among team members to deliver high-quality services and products. To Excel in This Role, You Should Have: Bachelor's Degree with 8-12 years of relevant experience or a Master's Degree with 6-10 years of experience (additional experience may substitute for a degree). An active Top Secret/SCI clearance and the ability to obtain a Polygraph. Experience with containerization technologies, particularly Docker. Proficiency in DevOps practices, including CI/CD tools like Gitlab or Jenkins. A minimum of 8 years' experience in Python and API development. Experience in Extraction, Transformation, and Load (ETL) processes. Knowledge of enterprise search capabilities, especially Elasticsearch. Experience with PostgreSQL and SQL Server. Familiarity with Agile practices. Hands-on development experience in Python and Bash within a Linux environment. Experience with AWS services and cloud architectures. Strong verbal and written communication skills. A self-starter attitude coupled with the ability to work well in a team. You Will Stand Out with These Additional Skills: Active Security+ certification. Active CE certification. GraphQL Service experience. Experience with Apache NiFi and Kafka. Knowledge of GPU-based Kubernetes and SALT for deployment automation.
