We're hiring for a full-time position based in the Santa Monica, CA area with a fast-moving, venture-backed startup that's reimagining how airports operate on the ground. As a core member of a lean, high-impact team, you'll work with modern tools to help develop an intelligent, AI-powered Ground Traffic Control system. This platform is central to optimizing aircraft turnaround times and pushing the boundaries of airfield automation. This role offers a chance to directly shape critical infrastructure in the aviation and mobility space. You'll collaborate across teams to architect scalable, resilient data systems in a dynamic, high-ownership environment. Required Skills & Experience • 4+ years as a software or data engineer, preferably in time-sensitive or live data applications • Extensive hands-on experience building and maintaining data pipelines (e.g., Kafka, Airflow, Debezium) and using cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Terraform) • Strong command of SQL and NoSQL databases, including schema optimization and performance tuning • Backend development proficiency in languages such as Python, Go, or Java • Familiarity with API design using REST and/or gRPC • User-focused mindset with a willingness to engage with stakeholders to understand use cases and constraints • Strong analytical thinking and clear communication • Experience thriving in fast-paced, startup settings where independence and initiative are key
Desired Skills & Experience • Exposure to real-time communication protocols like MQTT or WebSockets • Industry knowledge in aviation, transportation, logistics, or connected devices (IoT) • Experience working at an early-stage company • Understanding of sensor data, GPS tracking, or fleet operations
