You'll drive significant business impact by building the technical foundation for data-driven marketing at scale. Your engineering work will directly influence revenue growth and help more renters find their perfect apartment by: Establishing technological foundations that scale our ability to acquire new users through diverse acquisition channels Architecting comprehensive server-side tracking systems that prepare for cookie deprecation while maintaining attribution accuracy across all marketing channels Collaborating with marketing and data science teams to implement machine learning models that optimize bidding strategies, improve audience targeting, and enhance predictive capabilities for user acquisition and retention Creating technical solutions that turn privacy challenges into competitive advantages in an evolving regulatory landscape Implementing automation systems that increase efficiency, reduce manual work, and accelerate campaign optimization

Key Responsibilities

Create integrated marketing technology solutions that standardize pixel implementation across channels, build comprehensive attribution modeling connecting fragmented touchpoints to rental decisions, and ensure robust integration with external platforms (Google Tag Manager, AppsFlyer, GA4) Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs in Go, Ruby, and frontend applications in TypeScript, React to support marketing platforms. Lead engineering initiatives by collaborating with marketing, analytics, and data science teams to implement machine learning models that optimize bidding strategies, audience segmentation, and user engagement. Coordinate with engineering to prioritize projects that align with business objectives while ensuring scalability and performance. Develop automation systems to streamline marketing operations, reduce manual effort, and accelerate decision-making.

What We're Looking For

7+ years of experience in a full stack engineering role Strong software development skills in Go, Ruby, TypeScript, and React Experience with RESTful APIs, relational database design, and scalable backend services. Deep technical knowledge of digital advertising ecosystems, attribution modeling, server-side tracking implementation, and cross-device identity resolution Familiarity with machine learning concepts and their application in marketing automation and predictive modeling. Strong analytical skills, including experience with SQL and marketing performance metrics. Experience with server-side tracking implementations, tag management systems, customer data platforms, and conversion APIs (like Meta CAPI) Ability to translate marketing goals into technical implementation, through planning, requirements gathering, coding and maintenance, ensuring seamless execution of growth initiatives.

Here's The Pay Range

At Apartment List, we carefully consider a variety of factors to determine compensation for each position, including the role, level, and work. The US base salary range for this position is:

Zone 1: $170,000 - $207,000 TTC (including $154,000 - $186,000 base salary) + equity Zone 2: $158,000 - $191,000 TTC (including $142,000 - $172,000 base salary) + equity Zone 3: $145,000 - $175,000 TTC (including $130,000 - $158,000 base salary) + equity

This reflects the compensation target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Please note, the compensation details provided do not include benefits and perks that we offer.

We also rely on market indicators along with considering your work location, job related skills, experience and relevant education and training, to determine compensation that is fair and competitive for you. Apartment List will consider paying compensation near the higher of the range in exceptional circumstances, where candidates have the experience, credentials or expertise that would warrant such consideration.
