Title: Senior Software Engineer, Health & Human Services Systems (Contract, W2 Only)
Location: Columbia, SC (hybrid) Duration : Long-Term, contract (W2 only, no third party candidates please)
We're seeking a hands-on software engineer with deep expertise in large-scale public health systems and a strong command of IBM Curam framework, particularly the HCR and CGIS modules. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in mission-driven environments and enjoys the challenge of designing and building complex, high-impact solutions.
What You'll Do:
Serve as a technical lead on a major eligibility and enrollment modernization effort, contributing to design, development, testing, and integration. Write and review detailed technical design documents based on business and functional specifications. Build and unit test software components and APIs using Curam framework, Python, and JavaScript (NodeJS/ReactJS/Angular). Collaborate closely with business analysts, SMEs, QA managers, and other developers to deliver secure and scalable code. Conduct data mapping, support system gap analysis, and troubleshoot application defects. Help shape technical architecture and best practices while serving as a go-to resource for Curam-related challenges. Support delivery tracking and documentation, and communicate technical concepts clearly across both business and IT teams.
Required Experience & Skills:
4+ years of hands-on experience with IBM Curam (including HCR and CGIS modules). Curam Certification. Expertise with core Curam modules (Workflow, CER rules, Evidence framework, Web services). Strong experience with Python or JavaScript stack (NodeJS/ReactJS/Angular). Familiarity with AWS environments and cloud-native practices. Advanced knowledge of writing and tuning complex SQL queries. Strong analytical and communication skills, with a focus on clarity and documentation. Experience working in Agile, Scrum, and traditional SDLC environments.
Bonus Points For:
MMIS project experience or background in healthcare insurance and Medicaid systems. Working knowledge of Django or other Python-based web frameworks.
Education and Certification: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Active Curam Certification required.
