Join our small, agile, and mission-driven team where your work has real impact and your growth has no limits. We’re not just reaching for the stars—we’re engineering them. Let’s innovate the infinite, together.
A DAY IN THE LIFE: As a Senior RF Engineer , you will be responsible for designing advanced satellite wireless communication systems from concept to delivery. You will work across a variety of frequency bands—primarily L/S/X/Ka but extending to UHF and VHF—delivering solutions that meet demanding aerospace and defense requirements. This role blends deep technical expertise with leadership, as you will serve as both an individual contributor and a mentor to junior and mid-level RF engineers. Your work will span initial system architecture, detailed design, prototype validation, and final product delivery, ensuring high performance in complex communication environments.
WHAT YOU'LL DO: Lead the Design Process: Define RF hardware architecture, perform link budgets, noise-figure cascade analysis, and create detailed design specifications for satellite communication systems. Develop and Validate Prototypes: Simulate, model, build, and test RF hardware using industry-standard tools and laboratory equipment, ensuring designs meet performance, environmental, and reliability requirements. Mentor and Guide Engineers: Coach junior and mid-level engineers on RF design principles, simulation tools, and troubleshooting techniques, fostering a culture of technical excellence. Troubleshoot Complex Issues: Lead root-cause investigations for hardware performance challenges, implementing design changes or corrective actions to resolve issues. Interface with Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with systems, software, and mechanical engineers to ensure seamless integration and optimal system performance. Manage the Design Documentation Process: Produce and maintain thorough design documentation—including simulations, test data, and tolerance analyses—per established guidelines. Specify and Characterize Components: Identify, procure, and evaluate specialized RF components to meet stringent system-level requirements. Support Production and Continuous Improvement: Work with manufacturing teams to improve yields, resolve production challenges, and enhance product reliability. Represent Technical Excellence: Participate in and lead design reviews, presenting technical approaches and findings to internal teams and customers. YOU’RE AWESOME AT: RF System Expertise: Deep knowledge across VHF, UHF, L-, S-, X-, and Ka-band systems, with proven experience designing and validating RF front-ends, amplifiers, filters, mixers, and oscillators. Hands-On Design & Testing: Skilled in using industry-leading RF simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS HFSS) and measurement equipment such as vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and power meters. Technical Leadership: Adept at mentoring engineers, leading design reviews, and driving resolution of complex hardware issues from prototype through production. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Comfortable working closely with systems, software, and mechanical engineering teams to deliver integrated, high-performance products. WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or a related field. 10+ years of hands-on RF/analog hardware design experience, preferably in aerospace, defense, or satellite communications. Expertise across multiple RF bands (VHF, UHF, L-, S-, X-, Ka-). Proven skills designing and characterizing RF front-end components and subsystems. Proficiency with RF simulation/modeling tools and advanced test/measurement equipment. Strong troubleshooting skills for complex RF hardware challenges. Experience creating detailed design documentation and hardware specifications. Ability to mentor engineers and lead technical teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: The starting base salary for this position ranges from $170,000 to $190,000 per year , depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to a competitive base salary, Innoflight offers a well-rounded compensation package that includes a Profit-Sharing Bonus and a Cash Performance Bonus to reward both individual and company performance. Additional benefits include: 401(k) with 3% company match (automatic enrollment) Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, HSA & life insurance 10 paid holidays + 120 hours PTO (starting in year one) Access to ancillary benefits such as critical illness, accident, disability, legal and pet insurance.
