About the Manufacturing Company / The Opportunity: Our client, a leader in the manufacturing industry, is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to play a critical role in ensuring the quality and compliance of high-stakes fabrication projects. Responsibilities: Develop and optimize Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), quality control procedures, and acceptance criteria for manufacturing projects. Lead and conduct internal, supplier, and external audits under NQA-1 and 10 CFR 50 Appendix B standards. Participate in design reviews and evaluate technical documentation for compliance with ASME, AWS, and DOE specifications. Provide technical support for complex fabrication projects, including gloveboxes, vessels, pipe skids, and structural weldments. Oversee and maintain nondestructive examination (NDE) certifications as per SNT-TC-1A standards. Mentor and certify QA/QC personnel across multiple fabrication projects to ensure technical readiness and compliance. Interface with customers on QA/NDE issues, corrective actions, and field responses. Support the development of quality metrics, performance indicators, and continuous improvement initiatives within the QA program.
Must-Have Skills: 5+ years of experience in QA/NDE within nuclear, DOE, or ASME-regulated environments. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, codes, procedures, and quality documentation. Strong communication skills with confidence in interfacing with regulators and customer QA personnel. Hands-on experience with audits, corrective actions, and quality system compliance. Expertise in nondestructive examination (NDE) processes and certifications.
Nice-to-Have Skills: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline. Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or ASNT Level III certification in VT, RT, PT, MT, or UT. Familiarity with ASME Section VIII, B31.3, AWS D1.1, and NBIC standards. Experience supporting QA programs for DOE/NRC-regulated projects. Knowledge of project management tools or systems. Experience in fabricating gloveboxes, columns, tanks, or high-purity piping systems. Proven ability to develop quality metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
