Role Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Perception / Robotics Software Engineer to join the engineering team supporting growing demands in the development of autonomous, self-propelled rail vehicles. This role is pivotal in advancing our autonomous capabilities through the design and development of sensor integration, processing, and response.
Key Responsibilities:
System Development: Collaborate with stakeholders to define and document autonomous system capability requirements
Design & Development: Design and develop perception system to enable autonomous vehicle operations
Testing & Validation: Test and validate perception and autonomous system performance to ensure both operational and functional requirements are met
Lifecycle Support: Address and resolve issues related to fielded systems, providing comprehensive support throughout the product lifecycle
Innovation & Research: Stay abreast of technological advancements and recommend potential applications and technology investments to enhance our solutions
Team Dynamics:
Work within dynamic teams of 3-10 members on diverse projects
Foster excellent interpersonal and communication skills to thrive in a collaborative environment
Adapt to evolving project objectives and requirements introduced through prioritized capability enhancements

About You:
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineer, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
5 or more years of experience developing software systems, including with robotics, sensing, perception, and/or automation
A strong understanding of the principles of robotics, computer algorithms, and software development best practices
Experience with C++ and Python
Open-minded and comfortable working in a teaming environment
Fluent in both written and verbal English
U.S. Person ( immigration or work visa sponsorship will not be provided )
3 or more years of experience with two or more skills listed below: Sensor fusion combining data from camera, radar, and/or lidar to develop solutions for tracking objects in three-dimensional space
Localization and Tracking
Developing, deploying, and modifying detection and/or classification algorithms. Experience can be with classical or ML-based methods
Designing, implementing, and deploying image processing pipelines
Improving image processing model or pipeline runtime performance on embedded hardware
Defining and implementing testable metrics for evaluating perception system performance. Designing experiments and efficiently evaluating large data volumes
Writing sensor drivers and/or optimizing data flow/pre-processing/pipeline performance
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience with end-to-end perception system development for autonomous systems
Experience creating customer facing perception or autonomy systems
Experience deploying models with TensorRT and ONNX
Technical publications (CVPR, ICCV, IEEE, etc), or intellectual property creation
Experience in directly applicable industry or projects, such as Rail, Electric Vehicles, or Unmanned Systems
Relocation:
This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Full time, based in St. Louis, MO.
