Senior Network Engineer - VP Level Location: New York - Hybrid role - 3 days per week on site

My client, a highly reputable New York based Financial Services organisation, is looking to hire an accomplished Senior Network Engineer.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take full ownership of all Network Engineering and Network Security projects firm-wide.

This is an organisation with approximately 300 total staff, therefore your ability to wear multiple hats and deliver optimal results in an extremely dynamic culture is paramount!

Role Responsibilities :

The organisation currently relies on a third-party outsourced provider (MSP) for the majority of its Networking and Infrastructure. The firm is looking to bring this back in house.

Your first task will be to work with senior stakeholders to conduct a full audit of the current network set-up, covering full network infrastructure and network security. Once this audit is completed, you will then play an instrumental role in bringing everything in-house and moving away from the MSP. This will involve utilising your hands-on Network Engineering and Network Security skills to their full capacity, whilst working closely with Security, Infrastructure and Development teams.

Selected tasks will include: managing the MSP relationship, designing and deploying networks, monitoring and optimising network performance with a focus on low latency and high availability, implementing network security policies in line with industry regulations, administering and maintaining firewalls, routers and switches, leading incident response, putting together all network documentation and working with remote office set-ups (VDI experience is important). Designing and deploying data centres in Cloud (Azure) environments will also be key.

Desired Skills: • Ambitious, entrepreneurial, go-getting mindset - proven ability to work in both a hands-on technical capacity and alongside senior stakeholders making complex decisions • Proven background gained in a senior Network Engineering position- hands-on experience in managing network engineering and network security fully in-house • Previous experience of working with an MSP, ideally with a view of exiting them from a business, very highly regarded • Detailed knowledge across both Network Engineering and Network Security • Strong knowledge of networking protocols and services (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, DHCP, DNS, etc.) • Experience with Cisco, Meraki, Palo Alto, or similar network devices • Experience with remote office set-ups (VDI) • Hands-on experience with firewalls, VPNs, and network monitoring tools • Familiarity with cloud networking (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent would be beneficial • Experience in the Financial Services industry sector is highly regarded, or if not, working in a heavily regulated industry sector is a must
