Job Title: Sr. Mechanical Engineer (P&ID + Power Plant Design)
Location: Overland Park, KS
Salary Range: $80,000 – $150,000/year

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience in Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) and Power Plant Design Projects to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical knowledge, design leadership, and multidisciplinary coordination skills to support our growing portfolio of energy and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, review, and update P&IDs for power plant systems, ensuring alignment with engineering best practices, project requirements, and regulatory standards.
Lead the mechanical design of systems within thermal, combined-cycle, or renewable power plants, including piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, pumps, and balance-of-plant equipment.
Interface with electrical, civil, controls, and process teams to ensure cohesive, integrated system designs.
Evaluate and specify mechanical equipment and materials for performance, safety, and reliability.
Produce engineering documentation including calculations, datasheets, technical specifications, and construction deliverables.
Conduct field visits and provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and startup.
Support project schedules, cost estimates, and risk management efforts.
Mentor junior engineers and participate in design reviews.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Multiple years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong focus on P&ID development and Power Plant Design .
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Plant 3D, or similar design tools.
Deep understanding of mechanical systems within power generation facilities.
Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI, API, NFPA).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
PE license or ability to obtain one quickly
Experience with piping isometrics, equipment layout, and process systems integration.
Background in pharmaceutical, chemical, food/beverage, water/wastewater, or oil & gas industries
