Job Description:
Pay Range: $47.77hr - $53.14hr The Mechanical Engineer will be part of a team responsible for sustaining and improving currently marketed robotic laparoscopic stapling instruments. This role involves resolving complex mechanical, materials, and manufacturing design issues, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and supporting field and production challenges. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong analytical skills, design experience, and the ability to work in high-performance engineering teams. Responsibilities: Design, develop, and document components and assemblies for robotic laparoscopic stapler instruments and reloads. Apply engineering fundamentals to analyze problems, brainstorm solutions, and confirm designs through empirical testing. Develop testing fixtures for component and product validation. Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to optimize components for manufacturability (DFM). Create and maintain engineering drawings according to company and international standards. Investigate and resolve design, material, and manufacturing defects. Analyze field reliability data to improve product performance. Provide sustaining engineering support for manufacturing and field issues. Conduct technical design reviews to gather feedback and improve designs. Skills: Strong analytical aptitude in theoretical fundamentals, experimental design, and data analysis. Experience leading focused brainstorming sessions. High proficiency in SolidWorks (3D design), MATLAB, Minitab, and FEA tools (e.g., Ansys). Skilled in root cause analysis techniques (fishbone, 5 Whys, etc.). Knowledge of component selection, design for reliability, and manufacturability Experience collaborating with manufacturers. Familiarity with design input/output processes, requirement traceability, and FMEA. Ability to create and execute engineering test plans and reports. Effective communication skills (written and verbal) for cross-functional collaboration. Experience working in a regulated industry (medical device preferred). Should Have: Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as high-volume injection molding, machining, MIM, and heat treatment. Mechanical analysis background in statics, dynamics, and strength of materials. Programming experience in Python or C++ for electromechanical control. Qualification And Education: BSME with at least 3 years of experience. MSME with at least 1 year of experience.
