Senior Innovation Engineer

Responsibilities
: Investigate new and existing measurement, calibration, and sensing techniques and technologies which may be applied to the next generation of Fluke products
Engage with customers to understand new test and measurement opportunities
Assess the technical maturity and technology gaps to effectively solve customer problems
Partner with design teams to generate early-stage product embodiments and prototypes of varying levels of fidelity
Partner with a cross-functional team of business leaders, engineers, and other technologists to define vision and direction for technology development initiatives
Identify external partnerships and manage relations to support development objectives.
Provide technical leadership for transfer of Innovation programs to product development teams.
Provide analysis of competitor’s products, with intent to determine unmet customer needs and enhance Fluke’s ability to serve our customers.
Bring forth patent opportunities and partner with internal legal counsel to develop
Contribute to Fluke’s technology roadmap development
Cross-functional work to improve tools and processes, and consultation to accelerate time to market of new technologies
Proactively identify people, process, and technical gaps within the team. Propose solutions and take actions to close those gaps
Mentor and coach other team members
Up to 25% travel, including international travel.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with 10+ years of industrial experience.
Minimum of 7 years’ experience with technology/product development process and bringing physical devices to market
Considerable experience with metrology concepts (e.g. precision, resolution, tolerance, accuracy, uncertainty, repeatability) and direct practice in one or more modalities of calibration (e.g. electrical, temperature, pressure, etc.)
Ability to work independently and manage forward progress when faced with ambiguity
Innovative – Demonstrated creativity, flexibility, and ability to bring structure to ambiguous concepts
Critical thinking – Motivated to experiment, apply critical thinking and problem solving to test technical and commercial hypotheses
Customer obsessed – strong, hands-on, in-the-field, customer interaction skills
Communication - Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills. Ability to support conclusions with non-technical audiences as well as detail technical results and requirements to engineering peers.
Experience supporting geographically dispersed teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in engineering or related discipline; MBA or equivalent business experience
Project leadership experience
Experience and/or interest in electrified transportation
Previous involvement with standards committees or working groups
Hardware design experience, analog and/or digital electronics is a plus.
