Summary / Purpose: Performs a range of activities including requirements management, systems design, circuit analysis, component and equipment sizing/selection, development of specifications, drawings (single/three-line), interconnection diagrams, schematics, routing tables, and functional qualification plans. Involvement spans across nuclear power plant reactor systems, turbine islands, BOP, and test reactors. Approx. 20% onsite presence required.
Essential Responsibilities: Act as responsible engineer for EPDS systems covering AC/DC electric systems, including MV/LV systems.
Equipment includes switchgear, MCCs, UPS, inverers, batteries, digital relays, motors, contactors, cables, conduit, trays, grounding, lightning/cathodic protection, and penetrations.
Prepare technical documets including sizing/load/vibration/heat calculations, schematics, routing tables, design/spec plans using ETAP, Matlab, Visio, etc.
Ensure compliance with regulatory, functional, and qualification requirements.
Oversee and review deliverables for adequacy and compliance.
Drive design standardization, lessons learned, and technical risk trade-offs.
Maintain documentation aligned with nuclear regulations (NRC, DOE, IAEA) and standards (ANSI, ASME, IEEE, NEC).
Utilize tools like DOORS, ETAP, Matlab, and Visio for design/change/document management.
Resolve technical issues and drive high “say-do” ratio on deliverables.
Support bids, change orders, and mentor junior engineers.
Promote safety culture and compliance with GEH quality systems.
Qualifications / Requirements: BS in Engineering, Physics, CS, Chemistry, or related technical field.
15+ years in EPDS design for high-reliability facilities (nuclear/thermal/process/ marine).
10+ years in equipment selection, analysis, modeling, and simulation including environmental/seismic qualification.
Expert in PC tools (Excel, Word, Project, Access, Visio) and engineering software (ETAP, Matlab).
Preferred Qualifications: MS in Engineering or technical discipline.
PE License, PMP or project management experience.
Familiarity with NQA-1, ISO9000, AS9000.
Experience with systems modeling/simulation tools (LabView, Mathcad, Simulink, GSE, etc.).
Knowledge of US nuclear regulatory frameworks and standards (IEEE, IEC).
Strong communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Proven leadership, ownership, and decision-making abilities in fast-paced environments.
Continuous improvement mindset and high technical acumen.
