This position is based in Fremont, CA or San Jose, CA and will report to the Director of Systems Engineering.Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled engineer to support the development and integration of power conversion and power distribution solutions for solar power plants. The ideal candidate is a talented electrical engineer who demonstrates strong analytical skills, system-level mindset, commitment to innovation, attention to details, and passion for the solar industry. This position is based in Fremont, CA or San Jose, CA and will report to the Director of Systems Engineering.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport new power conversion and powers distribution product introduction from a system-level prospective, including top level requirements, functional block diagrams and interface definition in order to optimize the architecture, minimize cost, and ensure design robustness, safety, and reliabilitySupport design automation of electrical layouts and component selection for solar power plantsPerform technical trade studies and cost analysis of different design solutionsBuild system-level models that can simulate and predict performance and operation of the power plantGather, process, and analyze field data and factory test data to guide the investigation and resolution of service anomalies and improve future productsProvide guidance and feedback to other design teams and other company functions through the development cycle to bring new products from concept to marketRegularly communicate with the Product Management organization to understand market needs and translate them into engineering requirements and design solutionsCreate and implement test plans to debug and validate designs to meet functional and performance goalsParticipate in system level design and process FMEAs to ensure design robustness, safety, and reliabilityRequired QualificationsMS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or equivalent6-10 years of exerience in design engineering or systems engineeringExperience in utility-scale solar power plants or equivalent, including product design and integration, project design and constructionExperience with renewable grid integration and smart grid deploymentStrong eye toward safety, constructability, and system maintenance, not just what works on paperExperience performing trade studies and lifecycle cost analysisFamiliarity operating in a multi-disciplinary and multi-functional environmentProven ability to work independently and on teamsPreferred QualificationsProfessional Engineer (PE) in Electrical EngineeringKnowledge of applicable renewable energy and electrical codes and standardsWriting product requirement specifications, verification plans and test plansFMEA, root cause analysis, investigation of service anomaliesAt Nextracker, we are leading the energy transition by providing the most comprehensive portfolio of intelligent solar trackers and software solutions for solar power plants.
