Base pay range $110,000.00/yr - $170,000.00/yr Additional compensation types Annual Bonus and Stock options The Senior Electrical Engineer is a critical role in designing, developing, and testing electrical components and systems for our acoustic wave therapy devices. You will work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment alongside multidisciplinary teams to create and enhance products that support patient healing and well-being. You’ll need to apply your expertise in electronics, embedded systems, and medical device design to help bring innovative wound healing solutions from concept to commercialization. You will be involved in all stages of product development, from initial design through to post-market support. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership and Strategy : Lead the design, development, and testing of electrical systems for acoustic wave therapy devices, ensuring compliance with medical device industry standards (e.g., ISO 13485, IEC 60601). Assist in leading other engineering associates, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Collaborate with mechanical, software, and quality engineers to optimize product performance and reliability. Lead the electrical design of medical devices, including schematic capture, PCB layout, and component selection. Develop electrical circuitry, power management systems, signal processing, and control systems for our therapeutic devices. Develop and integrate embedded software and firmware for medical device functionality, including communication protocols. Testing and Validation : Conduct prototype testing, failure analysis and root cause investigations to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues and electrical validation for medical devices, ensuring they meet performance, safety, and reliability standards. Develop and execute test plans, including electrical, environmental, and stress tests. Analyze test data to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues. Lead root cause investigations and contribute to failure analysis when devices or systems experience issues in production or in clinical environments. Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with mechanical engineers, industrial designers, and other team members to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into the final product. Provide technical guidance and work with suppliers to ensure component availability and compliance. Support R&D in marking cost estimates for equipment, tools and components. Documentation and Compliance : Create and maintain thorough documentation of electrical designs, test procedures, and validation results to support regulatory submissions and audits. Lead the validation and verification processes for electrical components and systems, ensuring all tests are properly documented. Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards and guidelines. Identify areas for improvement in electrical design, processes, and tools, and work with the team to implement best practices. Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the product development team remains at the forefront of innovation. Budget and Resource Management: Identify and manage risks associated with project engineering and associated operational activities. Stay current with medical device technologies, regulations, and industry trends to provide insights and recommendations for improvements. Represent the company at industry events and engage with external stakeholders, including partners and clients. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred). 7+ years of experience in electrical engineering within the medical device industry or a related field. Proven experience in designing and testing electrical systems for medical devices, particularly in the field of therapeutic devices. Strong expertise in analog and digital circuit design, signal processing, and power management. Experience with the development of PCBs and embedded systems, as well as design tools (e.g., Altium, Eagle, MATLAB). In-depth knowledge of electrical safety standards, including IEC 60601, and FDA regulatory requirements. Familiarity with acoustic wave technologies and their application in therapeutic devices is a plus. Hands-on experience with test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies) and test automation tools. Proficient in electrical design software (e.g., Altium, Cadence, Eagle). Strong programming skills for embedded systems (e.g., C, C++, Python). Solid understanding of analog and digital circuit design, power electronics, and wireless communication. Knowledge of electro-mechanical integration and design for manufacturability. Experience with engineering standards, failure analysis, and quality practices, including: dFMEA, 8D, SAE standards, ISO standards, Lean, and DFSS. Understanding of reliability and quality metrics as it relates to product validation. Experience with Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project, Teams, and Jira. Excellent verbal, technical writing, interpersonal and organizational skills. Understand Good Manufacturing and Documentation Practices (GMP and GDP), 21 CFR Part 820, ISO13485. Experience with MDSAP implementation desired. Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
