AURA has an immediate opening for a full-time Senior Electrical Engineer. Candidates preferably will be located in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, NC area, although well-qualified remote candidate will be considered. US Citizenship is required due to the requirements of our US Government contracts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a hands-on role; you will be responsible for technical leadership and hands-on work in requirements definition, design, and implementation of electronics. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will design and implement solutions comprising combinations of embedded systems, sensing, FPGA, and analog systems. You will lead your technical team in collaboration with other senior architects, designers, and test/validation groups.
Minimum Technical Requirements:
Expert in the design, implementation, and validation of analog, digital, and mixed signal embedded systems, including requirements definition, schematic capture, PCB layout, fabrication, testing, and rework. Strong experience with FPGA development Proficiency with at least one industry-standard schematic capture and layout software package (Altium strongly preferred) and collaborative electronics development experience Competency with common electronics test equipment, e.g., digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers Significant experience in manufacturing test development; experience in developing JTAG testing procedures Outstanding troubleshooting, debugging, outside-the-box problem-solving skills, and abstract thinking Comfortable working and contributing in a multi-disciplinary research and development organization and approaching problems without full specifications OTHER DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE Strong understanding of analog design, ADCs, and high-speed digital interfaces, digital signal processing, data acquisition Experience with power systems, particularly in the area of medium-voltage DC switching, instrumentation, and control Experience with network cybersecurity products and/or other high-security devices Design for EMI and noise immunity/shielding, and galvanic isolation of analog and digital components. Design/implementation of products meeting MILSPEC, automotive, aviation, medical, or related performance and compliance standards Design and compliance testing for MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 or equivalent civilian environmental, EMI, and electrical safety standards First-hand experience in bring products through certification testing including safety and emissions testing WORK EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 5+ years experience and Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering OR 10+ years experience and Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent BENEFITS: Fortune 500-level Health Care Coverage Unlimited Leave Program after 60 days 10 Paid holidays & Paid Winter Break 401(k) Safe Harbor Contributions Employee Discount Program
